Carol's Journey
Email Poem | Today's Poetry

 Directionally Challenged
All my life, I have lived in the same city
Yet I still get lost easily, it is rather crazy
Usually I make a dry run to the destination
Tuesday I printed the MapQuest directions

I followed the route and I was doing just fine
On target with a slight curve to the right then
Pulling to the curb I checked for the next step
Take first right at 108th Court is what it said

I proceeded slowly, watching for the first street
But the sign was another name, not in agreement
I turned anyway in case there was some chance
Wrong again, how did I get in this circumstance

I headed back the way I came and stopped to ask
The gentleman acted like it should be a simple task
Just head south, then east, next to a bank I will see
I tried once more, then quit, it was not meant to be

I had my cell phone but did not write down the number
When I got home I called agency to explain my blunder
She set me up for Friday and gave me a different route
I will drive there before then to find it without a doubt

Without accepting Jesus as Savior, we are eternally lost
By His shed blood on the cross, He paid all our sin cost
Everyone who comes to Him by faith not our good deeds
He redeems and promises them a home in Heaven indeed
