FLASH OF MEMORIES
You compared my hair to corn-silk;
fine, soft, and golden spun
And said my smile could light the sky
like a warm and radiant sun
My bedroom eyes could melt your heart
clear blue-green gems that shone
You felt my voice like a caress
when we spoke on the phone
You told me time and time again
my talents knew no bounds
Drank in my prose and poetry
like fine wine you had found
My kisses were addictive;
with them I held the power
Our bodies fit together well
affections shared for hours
You spoke about our future plans
as if you were my beau
Giving me such hopes and dreams
of places we would go
But something deep inside your soul
kept you from loving me -
you lost the one who had your heart
her ghost won't set you free
You made mistakes, all in the past,
that time has never healed
and you've become a hollow shell
a man who could not feel
So even though it pains me now
to watch you walk away
with everything that's passed between
there's nothing more to say
Except for one last simple thing
I cannot help but share…
The place you held within my heart
will forevermore be there
Remember me in quiet times,
your girl with golden hair;
please keep the mem'ries of our time
tucked safe within your care…
For Flashman ~ you know who you are... :-)
