From the Hill

Looking down from the hill, there as fond memories still
As they came flowing back like some uncontrollable will
Seeing all those beautiful structures, depicting affluence
No occupying what I   formerly considered to be my environment

There was the place which in my heart is still considered home
Where there were trees and bush and shrubbery I playfully roam
Climbing and swinging from branches, eating fruit no matter what
Then later had to deal with that allergic reaction that I got

Then there is that area which has that little spring
Had an areas that catch water, where I did lot of wading
Also too when there was one of those water outage
The villagers used to go there, to collect to buffer the shortage.

Looking up there was still the clock tower, clock still chiming on the hour
There was the memory of many of us gathering in its shadow
It was good to see how it was restored to its former state
Not being a victim to what was apparent development's fate.

It was now time to walk into the street, to get the feel
Though there was many changes around nothing seem real
But amid all that people passed me not looking too happy
There was nothing like in those days, when there was such poverty.

People now stay confined to their own little quarters
Not caring about the others or any other human matters
Just focusing on achieving and in the same breath accumulating
But there are no signs at any moment of enjoyment.
