Once they reigned where structures rise
Supremely rose and touched the sky
Ten years have passed since that dark day
A change now comes for life has paid
With blood the site would baptize ground
Of ground zero where hearts still pound
A place where peace can now be found
A trace of those now safe and sound
They rose and left to those behind
A piece of them to help them find
A new beginning as passed has time
New fortress of fortitude
This ground sacred and solitude
Will be where all will come to see
Life still runs through majesty
Names etched on plaques will honor those
The innocent striking their pose
Invisible to naked eyes
But none the less to tearful cries
Here where spirits rose above
The carnage now still spoken of
Where healing still is of young age
Ten years ago today we page
A new beginning, to honor those
With loved ones who also rose
Above their pain, for here they chose
To join with their family
Members many of tragedy
Yet in where rubble once scarred land
Burns bright now life, tribute to man
Behold wee towers now of strength
Rising, claiming more at great length
To those perished, to those upon
Your names will help us carry on
