Life spins like a toy top.
It whirls like a dervish for awhile
In its own unimpeded style;
Speeds from its own momentum
Motion smooth as lotion
Doing its deeds;
Procreating, young to breed
Going to work, mouths to feed
Mowing the lawn, pulling up weeds
When, suddenly, it drops!
It's run into a mop
Standing by the door.
It's toppled over on the floor
Still gyrates, tying to recuperate
Twists around, seeking upward ground
Crashes on the trash can
Bounces off the book case
Frantic pace slowed down to stop!
Until, once more, it finds itself
Back on top the toy shelf.
