Latest poem I wrote on September 11 2011 but haven't been able to post it on here until now. Let me know how you think it sounds xx
It was September 11th 2001,
Got home from high school; my 1st year had begun,
Across the world, terrible news had spread,
That evil had been done and millions of people were dead.
Lives had been lost and more likely to be taken,
The telly was proof that I wasn't mistaken,
There in horror I sat and I saw,
The only remaining tower collapse to the floor.
New York was a disaster, so many lives were destroyed,
A feeling of sadness and devastation nobody could avoid,
In the last ten minutes I'd seen life change forever,
At the hands of evil and terrorism which were firmly held together.
I saw people trying to run with nowhere to go,
People trying to help without any idea how,
Have a go hero's doing everything in their power,
Pulling bodies from the rubble; the numbers rising by the hour.
With each year that passes we remember with saddened hearts,
The people who were killed and the lives left ripped apart,
Today it's ten years, Sunday September 11th,
We stand united in silence and remember those in Heaven.
Someday we all hope human faith is restored,
Humans will unite to show terrorism the door,
And as the years roll, we'll always remember,
That awful day of that awful September.
