Dear Grandson
Four months have passed since last we met
A date, your face as deep you slept
I whispered gently in your ear
Saying hello, grandpa is here
My eyes filled with tears of joy
As I held you and too enjoyed
This moment ours to briefly bond
As I returned you back to mom
Fast forward played what will ensue
Maybe a ballgame not one or two
I'd share one day to know of me
To never know of strikes three
Distance somewhat has caused some things
To separate, to table bring
More of myself while I am here
To share my heart with you sincerely
I pray you'll grow with heart of Gold
A part of me somewhat grown old
That had big dreams but lost their way
But not for you my yesterdays
Live, love and laugh and never be
Short of content this world you see
Will have it's fill of sighs and byes
Of heartfelt things, just short of tries
I'll hold your hand and walk you through
If you should need, I'm here for you
As time will come one day for me
To be held to, as you now dearly
