 350. Happy
Do you want
To be right?
Or
Do you want
To be happy?

Once upon
A time
I would have told
You to be right
Is to be happy.

To stick it to
The one who
Was wrong
Was sheer
Delight!

The dichotomy
The duality
Of one
Or the other
Didn't make
Any sense
To me.

Then slowly
I started to
See all
The injustice
In the world
And I wanted
To know why
People were
Doing such
Terrible things
To one another.

It was over
Who was
Is
Should be
Right.

Then I got it.

Every war
Has been fought
Between best
Friends
Neighbors
Countries…
Over wanting
To be
Happy
Thinking that
To be happy
Is to be right.

Now I get it.

Now I don't
Care who's
Right.
Now I'd rather
We be friends
Than enemies.
Now I'd rather
We forgive each other
Than hold
Grudges…
Asking friends
Wordlessly,
Silently to pick
A side.

I'd rather enjoy
The food
The view
The world
With you in it
Than without…
But now
I know
That happiness
Depends on me
More than you.

That happiness
Is my choice
Not your
Decision if
I am right
Or wrong.

I'll patiently
Wait on the banks
Of forgiveness
And the tides
Of unconditional
Love…
And be happy
To wait for
You.
