 353. Legacy
(thanks to Faith E. for the word)

These poems
Are my Legacy.
My art
Chalk or otherwise
Hard art
Or temporary
Digital is forever
As well.

You will remember
How I made
You feel
If nothing else.

My genes
Won't be my
Legacy
You are…
There now
Reading my poem
Or listening
To it.

I am touching you
Changing the
Matrix of
Your synapses
Hardwiring
My pattern
Into yours…
Now.
Five years
From now
100 years
From now…
And if we
All survive
1000 years
From now.

I pen and
Type with
The long view
In mind
Of yours.

Will my picture
Remain with
These words?
To see what
My smile was?
Is?
Shall I leave
Behind this world
Better than I
Found it?
I hope so,
But I cannot
Speak for
My fellow
Brothers and
Sisters of my
Time…
I can only hope
I will make up
For those
Legacies
I am ashamed
Of.
