"GOOD MORNING"
I am most grateful to the morning
which knocks upon my sleepy eyes
alerting me to day's beginning
leading me to my reprise.
The night before was pouring rain
lightening, thunder my bedfellows
Sometimes I would startle wildly
at their loud and snapping bellows.
Finally, when I found my sleep
it taunted me with troubled dreaming
My mind was in an empty shoe
that needed a good polishing.
Yet, morning chased me out of bed
toward scrambled-eggy bacon thoughts
and as I hurried to my kitchen
there were last nights dirty pots!
Now with pad and pen before me
at my kitchen table waiting
the scene is set for me quite aptly
to commence my daily writing.
All in all I am most grateful
for each morning, gray or shine
even though last night my pillow
hid beneath my bed to find!
