Appearance On Trial

Consider a person's feelings
as if it were your own,
you can choose to be kind
and let the good be known.

Don't put someone on trial
and be on the defensive,
a reputation can be harmed
and the lawsuit expensive.

You judge by appearance
and the expressions of the face,
there is not enough evidence
to put away a basket case.

Truth is hidden by denial
and the story never straight,
inside there is a real person
whose innocence is great.

Mean words become a felony
and lies the walk of shame,
fear builds up prison walls
and trust is lost to blame.
