Touching Innocence

How much beauty is real to us
And how much just traces of dreams?
I want to let this world touch me,
I need to become a child of the sun
And feel light swallow the darkness
As mist is dispelled by dawn’s radiance-
And deep within I must know pure love
How to love openly and deeply
How to make someone smile with joy
Just to be near me and hear my voice.
Life is a long journey it seems
And it is over far too soon.
I wear books on my head constantly
When I just need to taste the innocence
That flows in rivers and sings in the wind.
