Morning Sky

Upon meadows of richest green
The sun pours a melody of light
And all is tempered by golden afternoon,
Shadows scurrying to find their rest.
I love you so perfectly my heart sings
And the dreams I had become real
When I think of you at eventide;
Reaching for feelings that seemed impossible,
Tasting time to feel mortality,
I have learned that love always survives
Outlives greying hair and wrinkling skin-
Like a butterfly from a chrysalis,
Something earthbound gradually finds wings
And rises to greet the morning sky.
