FINDING MY HOPE
(Praise Him...the One, True, God Jehovah)
Wishing to lose myself,
abandoning myself to the muse,
stepping through the looking-glass,
wanting never to return…
This life has punished me,
laden me with too many pains,
too many heartaches to contend with,
too many days spent languishing in sorrow,
causing me, of late, depression and loss of hope…
Where are the carefree times?
Where is the lover I long to hold?
Where has my smile departed?
Reaching out to the heavens,
crying in vain for comfort to come,
lifting up my voice to the black night,
it echoes back into my ears…
and I listen to my own pitiful cries, realizing…
There are a billion other voices,
more sorrowful than mine,
more desperate to be heard,
more in need and hopeless,
and I sigh, resolved…
to find a way out and raise my cries once more…
in prayer for those more lost than I,
vowing to let the muse speak for them,
promising to leave self-pity behind,
reach out to serve…
and with the heralding of the morn
my smile returns once more…
and so too, my hope.
