EXCURSIONS INTO LOVE
I find you
in the whispers of every forest…
on the crest of every hill I tread…
your presence following me to where
our spirits and hearts were joined most often
There, I find you, among the trees
with the wind speaking my name
I feel you
the woods were always our temple
our prayers lifted silently heavenward
with the dancing limbs of birches and pines
Amid birdsong, under the warmth
of the yellow sun I feel you,
no matter the season
I hear you
your footsteps always steady and sure
guiding the way or following behind, urging me
keeping me pressing on searching
for that moment of communion with you
quietly present with one another, I hear you
listening to the beauty of creation's song
I see you
neither of us missing the slightest inspiration
the smallest spark of creativity focused
through the camera's eye
fed by each other's reverence, I see you,
pointing out those bits and pieces of sky
clouds, water, branches, framed in sunlight
I love you
reaching out across the stillness
closing my eyes in contemplation
with all the colors of every leaf
of every season we have explored
with each breath I take, I love you...
praying one day to walk with you again
