How the past so very often runs our very life
Holding us prisoner with its so grasping hold
Comes a time to simply set it so ever so free
Or we will become just like it caught till old
Baggage it weighs so much and slows us all down
And if we ever wish real true love to make a call
We'll need to have some room for it when it comes
As fate works with Karma to have love ever fall
Easier said than done how our hearts they do say
But only those able to love will love on the day
If trapped by the past how it within loves to stay
With all its baggage and memories till we turn grey
The roots of the past will hold on tight if you
Don't cut loose from them and fly high it is true
We are the captains of our souls all the way through
If we wish to be complete again we know what to do.
