My Painting

I look at the blank canvas,
And see a fresh new start,
This symbolizes when I was born.

Fresh faced and fragile.

I look around curiously,
Familiarizing myself with the colours,
And select my first colour to add to the canvas.

I add a cool lime green, which shows my new beginnings.

I learn new techniques with the brush and expand my knowledge.

Then I pick up another brush and add a fine cream colour,
to represent my development and maturity.

After I add a prominent bright purple to show my
conscious has developed, and how I have ruled out right from wrong.

My brush changes, I am painting colours
like primrose, red, coral, buttercup yellow,
and the most dominant one, pink.

This is my school life. The colours that represent
change, friendships, determination and opportunity.

As I get older each day, the colours expand.

There are more colours to be painted on the canvas,
The mystery is- what colour will be painted on next?
