Listening to the Word
Listen to what you hear,
And being slow to speak;
Because maybe you fear,
What your mouth and ears seek.
Anger not or grumble,
Lashing out with your wrath;
Or you just might stumble,
Walking down the wrong path.
For we have a Savior,
Who is Christ our Lord;
Stop impure behavior,
His words not be ignored.
Listen to what is heard,
What God gives has been true;
Humbly accept His Word,
For His Word can save you.
Follow what the Word reads,
Do not merely listen;
A healthy soul it feeds,
And God gives a vision.
Be not just a hearer,
But also a doer;
His Word is much clearer,
Being a pursuer.
Study under the Lord,
Doing as it has been taught;
And be of one accord,
In all that will be sought.
