 THE TRAVELING LIFELONG BUSH POET

ACCIDENTAL MEETING

I was in a drastic hurry to get shopping done
And I was just tearing flat out up the street
With an arm full of parcels heading for the car
That day I was dressed in my best looking neat
As I rounded a busy corner my mind some where
A woman was doing then the same that day as I
She rounded that corner at the same very time
The parcles went flying right up into the sky
I landed in a screaming heap then its true
I guess right at that same time so did she
I tried to get up but I found that I could not
As she was then laying there right on top of me
We both were so embarrassed as we tried to rise
But her dress was caught on a red post box there
This was something I had not planned that day
Laying in the street with a woman parcels everywhere
Both struggling to do whatever was the right to do
Every time she tried to get up worsened her position
I was making such an effort to regain my balance too
While at the same time collect parcels with opposition
Nothing seemed to be working very well at the time
She stood up a high heel broke caught there in a tile
She grabbed me for more support wouldn't you know
Once more both back down there in an embarrassing pile
Straightening myself as best I could slipping about
She looked at me I looked at here deciding the next motion
I gently took her hand to then show her the way back up
Both not that happy with all the on looking emotion
Finally we got up again this time making it there and ok
Brushing our selves off best we could then as we stood
Her feeling rather stupid for what had happened there
I as well felt anything but sensible smiling as one should
The small crowd had moved away to get on with their life
Leaving us both to try and gather some remaining pride
Still both, her without a heel and myself a little shaky
Stood there holding each other as if a groom and bride
I went on after making sure she was then feeling ok
And she as well then made her shaky come hopping way
And getting back to my car and thanking God in heaven
That behind me now was that stupid account upon this day
Arriving home a little later on in the afternoon at last
I walked in ,made myself a drink stiff and strong
I then kicked off both my shoes and sat there thinking
About this days events and all that had gone wrong
I heard a ring upon my doorbell ,then slowly went to see
My next door neighbor with her visiting sister standing there
And yes you guessed it there they stood and yes it was she
With a real I do not believe this kind of stare
My neighbor looked at me ,looked at her and shyly asked
Is there a chance that you both maybe have met before
And we both just stood there laughing out so loud then
And now still best friends and as well she lives next door.
