So very long my memory it goes back down the track
A friend and I once now long ago oh how it does seem
We played and laughed and adventured in those days
Caching tadpoles and yuppies then in this very stream
Memories in life they never ever set one free in any way
Within ones mind they remain forever more how they stay
The very best of them they remain in heart and mind today
And ever so many others I guess one seems to let slip away
I stand here and I think as I go back over life and time
Has it has been so very long ago since I was last here
Only very young all that time ago when we lived not far
From this bridge and just down the road in a home so dear
I wonder as I think going back in memory at this time
Why all those years,those days,those hours went away
So many good times and wonderful friends down the line
But that's what memories are created for in life I say
This stream has never changed at all since away back then
I can still see us there playing in the water as I recall
It all seems as if it was only yesterday within my mind
As children back then how we really always had a ball
Gone that old home and children all grown and I'm alone
But I simply had to come back one more time just to see
Where it was that we played and laughed and enjoyed life
What seems so long ago As memories wont ever let one be.
