Owing LovePay off your debts as they come due, Do not let the interest accrue; But one debt you cannot repay, The debt that Christ pays off each day. You cannot pay the debt of love, That does flow from the bank above; The debt that you owe each other, To those who love one another. In your leisure and your labor, Remember to love your neighbor; Showing that you do always care, And that you are willing to share. When faced with in the midst of strife, Love would make you lay down your life; For the greatest gift of them all, With picking them up when they fall. Love cannot do you any harm, Giving you comfort not alarm; For love fulfills what Moses taught, With commandments the words have wrought. You know the times we are living, For God is good and forgiving; But no time to smell the flowers, We do not have many hours. The night has gone and the day nears, In which a nonbeliever fears; So do away with anything, That the darkness loves to cling. Copyright © 2011 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
