WINTER FREEZE
Nature is an Archer
Standing near the trees
Bow and arrows ready, fire
From Summer through to Winter Freeze.
The arrow caught a rainbow
Through the soft Spring rain,
Through the Autumns golden leaves
The arrow wanted to remain.
Yet onto Winter it did land
And saw a little child.
Her Mother tightly held her hand
Then looked at her and smiled.
The child had climbed the Summer trees,
Through Spring had tasted rain.
In Autumn she had piled the leaves
To jump upon their soft terrain.
But now beneath the silent skies
White Winter takes its toll.
Panic fills the young ones eyes
Life's cold realities had not been told!
Not the truth of Winter freeze
Where days a sluggish tortoise trail
Shrouding over flower crowns
Beneath a snow drift gale.
Not the truth of Winter freeze
Where evening dusk's a hurried hare.
Winter freeze cracks berry pails
While icy spines leave bushes bare.
The image of the crystal flakes
Deceived by noon Suns warming breeze
Glinting, flirting on the trees
Shimmered lies of icy tease.
The blushing child is brought to sorrow
Gloveless hands hold melting snow
And only biting ice to borrow
Did the young child come to know.
The Archer's arrow, nearly frozen
Could not the child appease.
For Natures Archer cycles Life
From Summer through to Winter Freeze.
