All of the age old poets that we know
All wrote about things within their day~
Worded in their specific talent and pen
Told in their special way~
All were men and women of credit and respect
That people of the day all then looked up to~
As what they said at any time it mattered
And was well read back then it's true~
Within this day and age I wonder sometimes
As I look around at the world just now~
And wonder what they'd have to say today
If they lived in this day and age somehow~
We being mostly positive and loving people
Wearing rose colored glasses when we can~
But rest assure we are not blind and deaf
As we look around at the world and our fellow man~
Sad to say there is not the common sense today
For how so many things since then have changed~
They wrote of the beautiful,of God and life sublime
So much has for reasons unknown been re arranged~
Oh there are still lots to write about today
But the poet of this day and age~
Has not the amount of subjects at hand
That older poets wrote about then being the rage~
But an honest writer tries in his or her way
Today to give wings to thought as well~
To hopefully have people think a little more
And have things one day now as then so swell~
The deeper poet sees the love and sadness
And as well the many broken heart~
The amount of wrong doers getting away with
Both the horse and as well the cart~
We all would like to transport all into happiness
And have them all find only poetic gold~
But the truth is that in a lot of cases
Worse luck things are not as was in days of old~
But being as loving as can be and as positive
As possible really does often cheer a sadder soul-
And by being so one can help so many in life
To know sunshine by the love and warmth you've told.
