The Confidence in God
We have a strong city,
With fortification;
Of gold to look pretty,
And righteous foundation.
Salvation God appoints,
For walls and bulwarks;
With oil He anoints,
As His righteousness marks.
Open the narrow gate,
Let the righteous come in;
While others will wait,
And denied for their sin.
Those who with faith they keep,
Can enter since they trust;
But heat makes the rest sleep,
Because of all their lust.
Having a perfect peace,
Will protect those whose mind;
So confusion will cease,
For the meek and the kind.
But those who do not trust,
Will go into the ground;
First to ashes and then dust,
And painful gnawing sound.
Being trampled by feet,
Of faithful to the gate;
Where they will see and greet,
Jesus where He does wait.
