It was coming up towards Christmas then
And mum was once more again away-
Doing the things she often used to do
It was just Dad and us kids upon the day-
I was a little cowboy crazy then
Wanted so much back then just to be one-
Ride into those sunsets like they did
And on my hip carry a cowboy gun-
I would have been then about nine or ten
When one day I walked down the street-
And in a window saw a pair of cowboy boots
And imagined them right then my feet-
I walked in and said to the store keeper bloke
See them cowboy boots sitting over there-
My Dad told me to come in and try them on
And if they fit to get myself a pair-
Oh did he now the old keeper bloke said
Well lets see what we can do-
And out the back in that old store shack
He had a pair the same that fit its true-
He said well theses will cost you naming the price
I said Dad'll fix you up a little later on-
The next time that he's up the street he will
As I walked out with them singing a cowboy song-
I went home and my dad was there in the house
What have you got there my little fellow-
I told him I was just walking down the street
When I heard an old bloke bellow-
Hey you come in here I want to show you
A pair of boots that will fit you just fine-
They won't fit any body else at all in town
And on you'd they look divine-
So I tried them on and they did fit so good
And he told me simply to tell to you-
To fix him up for them some time later on
That's what he told me to do-
Well dad he yelled that old crafty bloke
I'll give him come in here and try them on-
But the boots now I was wearing on my feet
And singing an oldest cowboy song-
Dad looked at me and said I'll fix this up
But I'll give him selling boots to you-
And for longer than I can remember back then
I almost slept in those things it's true-
I did not take them off but for a bath
My first pair of cowboy boots brand new-
That's how I got my first pair of boots
away back the , So help me it is true-
