 1950's

Let's go one more time down to the Five & Dime
Get us some penny candy and a nickel candy bar
We'll take it all to the outdoor picture show
And watch Hoot Gibson or another movie star....

------------_____----------

I'll get the polish and shine my Buster Brown shoes
While you shine your Penny Loafers to a sheen
I will find the iron, press my nicest homemade shirt
Then put on my least ragged pair of jeans....

------------_____----------

No fear walking anywhere whether it be day or night
We're both old enough at twelve to walk alone
Let's go by way of the park and the old stone bridge
We can even stop by the lake and skip a stone....

------------_____----------

The better days of the fifties I remember so well
Barefoot in the summer's simple quiet tranquility
All gone forever, the days of peaceful serenity
And never to return, as far as I can tell.....
