I was walking through a park as a shortcut
To where I was going to during that day
And the day being hot I found a shady spot
So I sat awhile on a shady bench along the way
I picked up there a new newspaper and reading
A small dog it came and sat near me wimpering
I gave it a pat but it trotted around where I sat
As if trying to tell sometning at the time to me
This got me wondering what with it was wrong
So I stood and said whats so wrong with you
It ran around there on that leafy lane ground
And looked at me and then looking away its true
Every time I tried to get near that little dog
It ran a little away and then to me back again
It always ran in the same direction and then back
As if really trying I felt in order in it's way explain
Now I was not in a desperate hurry that day
So I followed it a little way and it kept doing same
And when I decided to go a little further on it ran
Further away looking back and looking ahead again
It came to be that I was walking this way with it
And it took me around a slope on to an old tree
And under that old tree was a real old man
In a fallen position and with his cane in missery
It seemed that this was his very own little dog
And the dog not knowing simply just what to do
It had then ran around the slope in that park
And finding me it tried to tell me what it knew
I in checking this old man as then best I can
Then finding that he was not too well at all
And at this time before he had fell for sure
And with there being no other soul there to call
So his little dog in desperation it then had ran
To get help for it's loved master in such woe
And only thanks to his little dog finding myself
He had been taken to hospital in an hour or so
It came to be that man had suffered a stroke
And though now he will never again be the same
It was only really due to his little loved dog it's true
He was found near that tree not far from leafy lane.
