Back home in Australia there's a good friend I miss
A friend that over time has always been there for me
As Australian as any Australian can ever get
And the name is Australia's biggest Red River Gum Tree
No matter there where I traveled or went fishing
There was always one there for my very company
To camp under and enjoy it's beautiful shade
But one needs to read the Gum it's true to be
Read the Gum I hear you asking what for and how
Well if you can't read a red gum you could be in strife
As they tend if not strong to drop a big branch or two
And if they do you could just well lose your life
But for some reason around them the fishing's good
And they have under them lots of dry twigs as well
So you can light an easy camp fire for the night
And the Koalas they love them so much I do tell
They can be found all over Australia near a river
Or not all that very far away from one it's true
Always a real good life long friend of mine
An Australian true blue just through and through
