DODY

There's a face in my mind
Of a young poet
Who lives in Egypt
She has faith

A beautiful human
With a mom, dad, 2 brothers
She went to college
Dressed impeccably she prays

Gets a job working
For a Greek man
At an airport
Her growth brings life

She marries a man
Who loves her
Through heavenly wedding photographs
A sample of her joy arrives

To eyes across the world
Above a smile of motherly love
Down to a heart that pumps blood
Back up to a mind

That knows instinctively
There is one higher power
Dody and I feel in our souls
That bonds us

No matter we haven't met
Or come from different cultures
That she is young and I am old
As love holds our spirits high

Above the corruption of life
Where greed is gold
Lies come as promises
Never to be kept anyway

Knowing God is great and good
Family is the roots of our branches
To keep learning is life long
She is my professor

Teaching me to be open minded
That with kindness you reach humanity
To study a way I was ignorant of
There is hope in grace way over there

I want her to have things
The world of power
Cannot give to her
Things you can only give to yourself

The security of knowing
She is not alone
The greater good lives inside her
It shines from her eyes to Oregon

To light this gray sky
Out my window
With sparkles flickering
Reflections of a diamond woman

Flickering hope
Flickering faith
Flickering love
Flickering Dody

A candle that does not
Lose light by lighting another
Her image burns in me poet to poet
She writes in light beams across the world.
