( These are borrowed pics , I've long lost
any I had then )
How we once worked on vast cattle stations
So far away out in the back country free
Stud cattle and of course the mixture's
Away out there then I loved so to be
It was always early up and then into it
We all knew so well what then to do
And back then it was almost all horse work
No bikes and choppers then it was so true
They do on some remote stations still
At times still use horses for cattle too
But away back then horses were the only way
And with those horses to ride we then all knew
It was they'd bring them in you picked them
That's how it really was ways back before
You'd pick your six,and you broke them in
And yes it was often true how you swore
But in those days more had work each day
Now all of those guys would be so out of a job
As moden times now have replaced all of that
Today those same guys could not make a bob
Oh I guess they still have a few just doing things
Around the properties that are a good ways out
But now no horses and dogs it's choppers and bikes
No stock whips and cattle men mustering to shout
Some of those properties were one million acre's
And then we often camped away out there for days
And back then how I loved it all as it was back when
Regardless of the hard work and all that dust and haze,
