I woke once more
from a slumber some sleep
I felt you breathing
like the rustling of leaves
on an autumn day
blowing gently
quietly
through the bustling streets
I waited for you
held my breath each passing day
once I thought I saw you standing
under the flickering grey
light of the moon
waiting patiently
silently
in the shadows it makes
I miss your touch
no longer do I feel your inviting warmth
that greeted me each morning
when I would wake with the dawn
and feel you close to me
looking longingly
lovingly
through the eye of a storm
I could never forget you
each memory is like a brand new thought
so why do I feel
like a dear that's been caught
in the headlights of your car
feeling nervously
shakily
like a little boy lost
I woke once more
from a slumber some sleep
and I looked for you
in the bustling streets
yet the only thing I found
was the rustling leaves
blowing gently
in the autumn breeze
