Life is great! Look at what we enjoy!
Summer peaches that make our mouths water,
Tropical mangoes with fragrance divine,
And strawberries red, and so luscious.
We travel across our nation so wide,
See lofty snow capped peaks, proud and regal;
Still lakes reflecting morning's early rays;
The fall, creation's majestic carpet.
In our forests diversity abounds!
Kings of the forest towering tall;
Rock lichen, small but colourful, alive;
Unfurling tree ferns, symbol of new life.
In every street, in every park,
The sound of a child's care free laughter;
The squeals of delight when swinging up high;
Baby's first ice cream, sweet tasting face paint.
In every office, factory or work place,
Skills and knowledge work in joyous concert;
Creative flair in colourful artwork;
Healing hands saving sick and broken lives.
Churches and cathedrals, large, medium, small,
Fellowship of the living God's family;
Prayers for forgiveness, peace and guidance;
The songs of hope 'til the rapture arrives.
But what would happen if today God gave,
Only those things for which we returned praise?
If today's gifts were ungratefully used,
When the clock strikes midnight, what would you lose?
Can you picture roses with no perfume?
Songs of silence without rhyme or tune;
Autumn's glory falling transparent;
Forests without birdsong greeting the day?
Would you miss the sounds of children at play;
No laughter as glumly on a bed they lay?
Or friends bereft of compassion and hope;
Hands of healing withheld for a season?
Give thanks to the living God of Heaven,
Praise Him for His gifts generously given,
Teach your children to add their tender voice,
Thanking God for His faithful love and gifts.
