How us kids then how we would hurry so on down
And getting so closer how we then could hear
All of those loud speakers simply blaring out loud
How it was then all such music to a country kids ear
The Rodeo time once again it had arrived at last
And every single rider was there the best to be
The horses then were wild and how they'd buck
They all had eight seconds to set the record free
And how those voices on those speakers ever loud
Would then each and every name of horse and of man
Oh how I still remember hearing “Here Comes Mandrake”
Lets see ,, And stay on him if you both dare and can
We ran fast through the gates and there they were
All giving it then all they had to give upon the very day
All of the cowboys all sitting around those ring fence's
Like ever so many colored country crows all on display
There were so many country outfits there to break a heart
Those hats and boots that I swore then one day I'd own
Only kids then but how I swear this was how it all was
When those country roots back when were first ever sown.
