How I once loved ever so singing in the shower
No one at all at home and for maybe an hour
Singing best I could the one and only THE DUKE OF EARL
I thought away back then my voice was a pearl
Sounded so good to me and how I'd sing so free
As if I was he Gene Chandler I'm sure he would agree
Singing out so very loud with echoes as the water swirl
Singing that much loved song the one DUKE OF EARL
I have always loved that song and I sang it all along
With hot water running and me singing good and strong
Not a thought then of anyone at all or even of the world
As I'd then sing so loudly that one DUKE OF EARL
How I guess many back then they did just like me
Singing like I was the greatest ever then on earth to be
Singing like as if I could make a girls toes curl
Singing out so loudly the very one and only DUKE OF EARL
As the hot water flowed down how then I'd sing this song
All in time no mucic then how I enjoyed that song all along
Singing then the DUKE OF EARL as I danced around and curled
Singing then out so wonderfuly the one and only DUKE OF EARL
( I still think back and laugh lol , thank God no one heard me LOL )
