First came "The Equation" - the mathematical description of the universe.
Then came: "The Problem" - The rotation of the galaxies was too fast.
It did not fit the equation.
"The answer:" a) Dark Matter! an invisible something...which by the way
passes through everything without interacting with anything.
b) Dark Matter had to be given a mass value that would allow for
the speed of the rotation of the galaxies.
"The result:" VOILA! "The Equation" now works! Yea!!!
Uh-Oh!
The universe is expanding! The galaxies are moving away from each other.
"The Equation" says that eventually gravity will slow down the expansion.
But the galaxies are moving away faster...not slowing down!
"The answer:" a) Dark Energy!! a force unknown but anti-gravitational!!
b) This force is repelling galaxies and this outside force continues
accelerating the galaxies, not slowing them down!
"The result:" VIOLA! "Equations" now work again!
Uh-Oh!
The galaxies are being drawn to a "point"- this does not fit into "The Equation."
"The answer:" a) Dark Flow!!!
b) There is an unknown mechanism which eventually draws
galaxies to a region of the universe. The flow is not
explainable at this time; so let's call it "Dark Flow."
"The result:" VOILA!!! "The Equation" works again!
THE RUMPLESTILSKIN EFFECT: GIVE IT A NAME AND IT GOES AWAY!!!
