In the land of in between where dreams and wishes reside,
There are rules of magic to which everyone must abide.
Beings of light flutter under a green cathedral sky.
Is it a whimsical wonder that they would want to fly?
Under that shrouded veil of green,
One hears their whispers, yet they are never seen.
You are not quite sure if you detected a sigh,
Though they hide in plain site, fooling your eyes.
Once a prince stepped onto a moss covered stone.
A fairy flew up her hiding place shown.
She hovered in flight; she was startled and scared.
His eyes were alight and his looks so fair.
He smiled in delight as he sought her name.
She coyly retreated, as she knew his game.
Her identity revealed would cause her powers to fade.
She would be forever banished from forest and glade.
So silently she continued to hover and stare,
She enjoyed his frustrations as she floated on air.
Yet in a dream there is magic and this was his time.
Slowly she warmed to his warm gentle rhymes.
Emotions ignited ripping reason from her heart.
Her loss of control would tear her apart.
She fought even harder to suppress her desire.
But the pain in her soul was a raging fire.
She resisted the urge never uttering a sound.
If she succumbed to the magic his voice had unbound,
She would always regret the loss it would cause.
A victim of magic's punishing laws,
With one final act she flew towards the sun,
Away from the forest, her resistance was done.
Still she returned to deal with her fate,
But the prince had left, it was getting late.
The fairy searched madly for his love so fair
But for now she was safe in her magical lair.
A tear left her eye as she fluttered in flight.
She faded from view as she hid in the night.
She whispered, her voice a sweet soft violin,
Longing for his return to her magical glen.
