CHRIST, MY LIGHT, MY LIFE

Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." - John 8:12

Thy Light,
Pure White, Crystalline Bright.

Magnificently serene,
A wondrous beauty I've ever seen.

A soft beam of love from on high,
Shining forth like a brilliant star in the sky.

O Christ, my light, my life
My grace through all the strifes.

My soul to Thee I relinquish,
This moment I'll forever cherish.

Thy peace,
My bliss, my heart and mind reminisce.

On and on playing like a sweet song with in me,
Soothing, healing me gently.

Releasing me of my fears and doubts,
My anguish and pains, I cast them out.

O God, Thy light has come,
Salvation is thy gift for me and everyone.

Beyond all these glittering lights we see around is Christ, our true light whose brilliance never fades. I am inspired to write this poem after my brother, Serafin shared with me this video by Don Moen last Sunday just before we attended the Holy Mass. Actually, I conceptualized this poem a week ago while attending the Holy Mass while staring at the lights at the altar (that was after I said my prayer after receiving the Holy Communion) but I couldn't get through the words. Now, with God's grace, everything runs smoothly.
I don't know if its just coincidence but the lights enveloping Jesus on the Cross makes me experience that awesome peace. It's white and so beautiful. And this poem is my Christmas gift for you.
