Unwrapped
Beneath the tree where many lights
Shine upon gifts of delight
Where young and old can only guess
What's wrapped within, surprise no less
The pile below a treasure trove
Of sorts, of love, of thought owed
Tied off by ribbon and colored bows
Countless, not far from mistletoe
Eyes next morn will grow wider
Than once before though slightly tired
Excitement rings, once quiet there
Before too eyes soon tree now bare
Gift wrap of foil and paper mountains
Landscape changed many to count them
Will be all that's left to open
Unwrapped but one, The Christmas Token
No fancy tie, no watch to wear
No games to play or TV stared
Unseen by eyes the moment flees
Of one who came and died for thee
This Kodak moment came and went
Again this year of time ill spent
As wrapped we were but not of Him
Throughout our life is where we've been
Wear sweater and matching scarf
Ward off the chill of sin scoffed
Come to know the gift that gives
Eternally, unwrapped to live
