She lay
Defenceless
Upon sterile white sheets
Which united snugly
Around hospital corners.
Surrounded
By what can only be described
As aseptic Chanel.
The freshness
Seeping into cloying grey flesh
Now succumbing to
Life's aftermath.
Evenings where the sultry scent
Had beguiled all
In its path.
She had glided in regal manner
Through corridors of mansions
And palaces.
She floated upon yachts
Which drunkenly rocked and
Rolled.
High seas yielding
And swaying to her music.
Her body
Had fought
In love and
War
Where no man
Would leave without scar and
Tales of irrepressible verve and
Amusement.
Devoid of constraint.
Devoid of sense.
