--- She Floated In ---

She floated into the corner
of my shallow long room
and settled into the darkness there.

Coiled hair, long-dead Medusa.
Wondering aloud
how she had found
me again so soon,
for I'd only just moved in.

The dust and I had barely a chance
to settle.

She answered
as she sensed
my question with a grim grin:
"It was so easy
for me to follow
you here..."

"for you wear a certain odor,
you smell of a certain fear...
you leave a trailing remnant,
an impression
all so  very queer."

"All I need to do is follow
your secrets
and they help me find you anywhere...."

"I'm here to let you know
I will always follow you
and float in
when you least expect."

"Shadows and Medusa
will not show you any respect"

"And since you have noticed me,
your noticing is the same as an invitation.
I found her words intolerable
I had to somehow
cancel
any of her further
reservations.

But it was much
too
late.

The long shallow room expanded
then withdrew.
At my feet
lay the long coil of a skinned snake.

I'll be back she hissed
as a howling wind
ravaged the room.

Never trust
the silence.

Another dream which I felt needed to be written down so that I might
later on understand it and examine it.
