Pressing Toward the Prize
Things once considered of value,
Are now worthless within my view;
And now they have been sacrificed,
Because my treasure is in Christ.
But it is far more than just that,
With knowing now where it is at;
Wanting to be in one accord,
And know Jesus Christ as my Lord.
For it is all because of Him,
Am I no longer feeling grim;
And then I threw it all away,
Not to cause me to go astray.
I threw it all away to gain,
It was Christ I looked to attain;
And a relationship with Him,
Does give me the spiritual vim.
Knowing Christ does make me feel wise,
As I press towards the major prize;
Because I build a foundation,
Needed to house my salvation.
Approval from God not merit,
Rather now we can inherit;
Through Jesus Christ who is the Son,
Being able to get it done.
Getting it done up on the cross,
That caused Him to suffer the loss;
And His death would give us life,
For ending our sinful strife.
