A Rose
There she was so annoyed and throwing that childish tantrum
So unexplained and her mother could not figure out the reason
No obvious sign of injury and presence of pain she did deny
This made the mother felt some anxiety, not know why she would cry
This gentleman came from his gardening to see what was happing
Bend down before her touched her chin and asked why you are crying
All those many morning I see walking, running and skipping along so happily
Seeing you now in all these tears now make me feel a bit uneasy
He then departed and quickly he went to his garden and picked a rose
She gladly took it, smelt it and let the fragrance permeate the nose
There was joy around and the tears stop flowing and now she was smiling
So off to school she went but before a hugging and a big thanking
At school each of those friends makes sure they get a turn
At sniffing and holding the rose that enlightening morn
Then satisfied they it was put in vase of water and put to rest
Upon a accessible place on her favorite teacher's desk
The gentleman still continue still to leave a rose at the gate
Just to see her happiness and that radiant smile to initiate
He will respond by saying that if he made no sales that day
That smile's value was worth more than any of the money his customers pay
As time progressed they developed such a friendly bond
Which over time became very good and also very strong
Then are she become aware she understand not to impose
But on some occasions may still make that offer of a rose
But time will progress and girls will be transformed into women
A both father time and Mother Nature will make that mark on them
One day she did passed by and told him a bit sadly but happily
He too was glad know that she had be successful and going away to study
Well as experience will he know he know that time was always close
So he reached out and gave her one of his most prized roses
On reaching home, took time and for a moment never stop
Until there was a perfect picture of it for a screen-saver on her lap-top
Throughout that period away they always kept in contact
And he was the first person she asked for when she got back
But could not control those tears filled and flowed from her eyes
On hearing the news than a terminal illness had him hospitalized
At first morning light she was sitting by his bedside
How those eyes light up and all his pain seem to subside
When she produces a rose how a smile came over his face
Saying “I have held on to see you, now I will concede this race.”
So unexplained and her mother could not figure out the reason
