Night camped upon my breast
With her dark rain bearing clouds
And with her flashes of lightening
She declared that the address of rain
Is the sky, and her address is my heart!

I held her captive in my arms
Chewed her lightnings between my teeth
Kneaded her clouds with my fingers
To give her a shape suitable to my sleep,
For my journey into the world of stars,
Into fairy lands of the mermaids, nymphs
And goddesses, into those winged worlds!

Souls of the fragrant flowers
Were melting in multitudes in my song
Tuned in half sleep overflowing my lips;
Bunches of mango fruits were hanging
Like moons pouring delight on pastures;
Those midnight dreams are washing
The wounds of my heart with nectar!
