The Sky of Freedom

The oars paddle stealthily
in the dark.
They could no longer wait...
Now is the time
they've been waiting for...

Fearless. Resolute.
Obnoxious of the gunshots
that summon them.
Their minds are dull.
The Old canoe is set

just like their eyes
that never look back.
Forward...forward
to what is beyond
away from those notorious flesh

that wear ruthless crowns
and iron fists
hurting them
and their children.
The cold, gusty wind

tickle their spine
but not their blood,
too intense,
adrenalin rush
and surge

Like their souls
sail not
but soar
like the eagles
into the sky of freedom.
