Writing Prompt 5: I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU

The sun shone brightly on this life of mine
Then it happened -- and all too soon
I was alone in wretched darkness
Staring at a glaring and frightful moon!

Who would I turn to?
This was my plight.
Then a deep voice said,
"If God has me
In the middle of a sunny afternoon
Then He has to have me
In the middle of a dark night."*

Life went on and on
And after a long while
I awoke one sunny morning
On my face there was a smile.

*From Pastor Marvin Winan's eulogy at Whitney Houston's funeral service, February 18, 2012

P.S. A old and treasured friend wrote this to me on a Valentine's card, signed with Love.
 I think God was watching:

"Good times
Bad times
Fun times
Sad Times
Friendship doesn't take a hiatus."
