 The Old And The New

There once was a place that was all pretty lace,
Billowy blouses with everything in place,
Along with bloomers and petticoats too.
There were bobby sox and diaries with locks.
On a dresser sat a nice perfume and music box,
And there were high heels and penny loafer shoes...

Once there was a town where a ballroom gown
Would be seen at least once in a while in town.
Women were well bred with only a bit of guile.
You knew what a lady was, didn't need guesses.
Ladies wore dresses and hair with long tresses.
Taffeta and crinoline were very much in style...

There now is a place, it is such a disgrace.
Some women often carry a gun just in case.
They're in long pants and shirts made for men,
Cell phone to their ear, nothing held dear.
They'll never turn back to the old ways, I fear.
It's just tacky, I'm not saying it's a sin...

But it's all okay, I am sure that one day
When our children as elders replace us;
When we're gone, they'll complain and moan,
Saying, "look how OUR children disgrace us!!!"
