Dancing With a Girl
She's the girl I don't think about
No centerfold in a magazine
Another face in the crowd
And an inspiration to believe
She talked with the teachers
Eyes like flames
I sprang from the bleachers
Ice in my veins
A heart to be given
In porcelain hands
I crossed the gymnasium
And asked her to dance
Disco ball, the spotlight
Paparazzi on the dance floor
The night of her life
Was an elevator door
The fling was a fairytale
She'd brag to her family
We slow-danced to "Your Song"
For almost eternity
For this I bore some heat
Enough to prove my kindness
Four wheels were two feet
Awkwardly guiding us
Hecklers didn't bother me
But it was her harsh reality
Teenagers without decency
Are the wickedest tragedies
The royal pageant was our ending
Senior Prom I'll never forget
Life wasn't what I'd been pretending
I began to appreciate the world where I live
Goodbye and good luck
As Cupid began weeping
A girl in a wheelchair
Is a woman with feelings
