Sitting in the porch swing
An orchestra above them, birds sing
Melodies soft tunes of wind chimes
Sipping tea with lemon or lime
Gentle breeze silently blowing
Green blades of grass sprouting and showing
Reminiscing years gone by
As they both lift their weary eyes
Looking up at the sky a soft clear blue
The rug on the porch a soft blue too
Behind the couple on a trellis, ivy and vines climb
Like them the porch swing has stood the test of time
The porch swing has held up by link chains
Like them holding strong through all kinds of pain
On the porch swing, a feathery fluffy pillow for each to rest
They are comfortable like baby birds in their nest
Through all the storms and years
The old loving couple shared laughs and tears
Their eyes are the windows to the soul
To each other they lovingly hold
Butterflies flutter here and there
Their love for each other floats in the air
Sitting in the porch swing
The old loving couple to each other forever cling
