To No More Swing (prompt 7) wings2fly2heaven
From SPP Writing Prompt #7

To No More Swing (free style)

Where have the days gone of free flying glee?
I miss the swoosh of air on my rosy cheeks and wearing an endless smile.
I can still hear chaotic chants and childlike laughter resonating behind my minds-eye...
But only through my memory of innocence.

Time dictated life to move on….
Back then time was too slow, now?  time moves way too fast!

Why do I ‘remember' just how high I could go?
Daring childhood friends to run under my swing,
As I ascended in perfect timing, we didn't know the ache of fear
For we were living in the moment….. our moment.

But oh how hearts are heavy as the tragedy of time passed us by.
And oh how we long for those playful times.
The taste of life was like taking a bite of the moon!
Yes….I can still taste it.
It was cool, soft, and refreshing.  The moon tasted like orange sherbet to me, and it
still does.
The sweetness of youth dangled in the balance of motion.
I never found awareness…..until my blue skies turned cloudy.
And the heaviness of life's mist consumed my gasps of laughter.
And so…. In this moment I cling to the swing while shuffling my feet
On the pebbles under the set….
Why am I making circles?
