From the Heart Through the Pen

Recovery Aid

Some years ago
I met a now injured beauty
Recently we caught up and had a convo
Couldn't believe how she spoke to me
She lacked confidence
Was often reminiscent
Of how she used to be

Her thousand watt smile
Now just a flicker
Kind of like that flame that used to burn
Her once high spirited laugh
Now just a snicker
As she loses faith in all humans
Whose name begin with mister

But you just don't know
How much I missed her
I knew her before used to be
Before her mister left for the mistress
She was once a proud Mrs.
His spot I always envied
Ever since those pretty round browns drew my interest

My...the way they would sparkle
Seemed as if that flame were fueled
By an endless supply of charcoal
My...the way she got me to fall
Made the other times seem like a stumble
I remember like yesterday...
But I digress

Now I look for new ways to again impress
Get her faith restored
Let her know not every guy falls for the temptress
Focus her on bigger, better, brighter things
Get her from how it used to be to how it's supposed to be
But most importantly, aid in her physical recovery cause
Fallen angels can't fly on broken wings
